Upcoming Local Tournaments

Sat 05 Aug 2017 20:02 Chris Travis

Hi Everyone, just wanted to let you all know about a couple of upcoming local tournaments that our senior members might be interested in entering. Feel free to get in touch if you are unsure whether a tournament is appropriate for you and I'll try to advise you.

American Style Tournament

Organised by Ian Day from Academy Badminton Clubs. In this doubles tournament your partner and opposition are randomly drawn for each match, so you can be sure to play with and against a range of different players. I've played in similar tournaments before and found them to be great fun. This tournament is aimed at social, non-league and lower league players. As such, you should only consider entering this tournament if you expect to be playing in the bottom 2 divisions of the league this season.

Date: Sunday 3rd September
Start Time: 10am
Venue: St Egwins COE Middle School, Worcester Road, Evesham, WR11 4JU
Cost: £10
Entry Deadline: Friday 25th August

Gloucestershire Restricted

Organised by our county association, this is the big annual tournament which sees all the best players in Gloucestershire compete to be crowned 'County Champion'. It features singles, levels and mixed events. Entry is 'restricted' to any players who were born, live or are in full-time education in Gloucestershire. I'd recommend only entering this tournament if you expect to be playing in the top half of the league (i.e. top 2-3 divisions) this season, as competition tends to be pretty fierce.

Events: MS, WS, MD, WD, XD
Date(s): Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October
(Most events will be on the Sunday, exact times will depend on the number of entries and will be confirmed nearer the event date)
Venue: Aspire GL1 Leisure Centre, Bruton Way, Gloucester
Cost: £12 per event
Entry Deadline: Saturday 16th September
Online Entry: http://be.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=00CCC39E-5D1B-4FBA-9D76-F7722C724C67

As usual, if you have any questions then please feel free to get in touch - Chris
