Over the course of the season quite a few members have expressed interest in attending a session which would provide them with more structured practice. So I'm currently considering setting up a training session which would run periodically - probably every few weeks, rather than every week. My current thinking:
There will be homework before each session! - Everyone who attends will be expected to have an activity / practice / drill that they would like to work on.
If you are having trouble coming up with something then speak to one of our coaches, or a quick search of Google / YouTube should provide plenty of inspiration.
We will randomly select some players who will introduce, explain and run their activity for a small group / everyone.
Practices will last for ~20 mins and then we'll randomly select some more players.
I'm deliberately calling this a training session rather than a coaching session as the majority of the time the session won't be led by a coach - so that our coaches can train too!
Players will be expected to share short, constructive feedback with each other.
From time to time, I plan to invite 'guest' coaches in to lead a session.
Playing (unconditioned) games will be strictly prohibited until near the end of the session (this isn't going to be another club night).
If you'd be interested in attending these training sessions (now or in the future), then please let me know by sending me a quick e-mail as I'll likely only e-mail those who express an interest, rather than the entire club. I'm hoping to run a pilot session before the Easter holidays.
